New LED Lighting Brings a Brighter Look to Chevalier Theatre

Chevalier Theatre is shining brighter than ever with the installation of a new LED lighting system that is transforming both the look and functionality of the historic venue.

The new lighting was on full display during the Old Crow Medicine Show concert on Thursday, May 8, 2025, when the production team from Bill Blumenreich Presents used the upgraded system to create dynamic colors and movement throughout Chevalier’s distinctive ceiling.

The LED conversion replaced approximately 975 incandescent light bulbs, providing a more energy-efficient solution while giving production crews greater flexibility to enhance performances with a wider range of colors, effects, and lighting designs.

The improvements were made possible through a Community Mitigation Fund grant from the Massachusetts Gaming Commission, awarded to the City of Medford, which owns Chevalier Theatre. Grant funding also supported new interior LED lighting and the installation of digital signs outside the theatre, replacing the paper posters that had been used for decades.

On October 29, Friends of Chevalier joined City officials, Massachusetts Gaming Commission representatives, community leaders, and local legislators for a tour highlighting the impact of these improvements and the continued collaboration needed to support the historic venue.

These upgrades help modernize Chevalier Theatre while preserving its historic character, allowing the venue to continue welcoming audiences and hosting memorable performances as a vibrant performing arts destination in the region.
